OO Hawthorn Leslie Saddle Tanks

A new and detailed model of the Hawthorn Leslie 14in 0-4-0ST saddle tank industrial shunting engines, one of the more popular and long-lived designs with some engines still working into the early 1970s.
This model is finished in lined green livery as works number 2780 (1909), built for Turner Brothers asbestos sheet factory in Manchester and named Asbestos. This engine was donated to the Chasewater Railway (Staffordshire) for preservation in 1968.

This model is finished in lined red livery as works number 2491 (1901), an engine built for Websters brick & lime works in Coventry, later serving the Coventry Ordinance works and British Celanese Ltd at Spondon, where the engine was named Henry. Still in service as spare engine until 1972 Henry can now be found at the Barrow Hill roundhouse.

This model is finished in lined maroon livery as works number 3135 (1915) Invincible, an engine ordered for the Woolwich Arsenal during WW1. Fitted with a new boiler Invincible moved to the Royal Aircraft Establishment in Farnborough, working along a partially roadside tramway route between the establishment and BR goods yard. Withdrawn in 1968 this engine was purchased for preservation with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

This model is finished in Port of London Authority lined blue livery as engine number 56.

This model is finished in green livery as works number 3793 (1932) and named Faraday, as the engine was working at the Newport Corporation power station. Later taken over by the CEGB until the closure of the power station. Although purchased for preservation this engine has unfortunately not survived.

This model is finished as works number 2623 (1925) named Spider, one of the engines which worked at the Black Park colliery in Chirk, close to Dapol's factory. Later the engine appears to have moved to the nearby Ifton colliery, Oswestry though no further work could be found for it when that colliery closed.

This model is finished as Newcastle Electric Supply engine number 13, works number 3732 (1932) in a high-visibility yellow chevroned livery. This engine worked at Carville and later Dunston power stations, passing to the British Energy Authority (BEA), Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) before being purchased for preservation in 1973. Currently at the Tanfield Railway where industrial engines are the usual motive power No.13 is currently undergoing an overhaul.

This model is finished in lined maroon livery as works number 2988 (1913), an engine exported to the Australian Iron & Steel Co. and named Wallaby. Today this engine is preserved as a static exhibit at the Illawarra Light Railway Museum, a narrow gauge railway and industrial heritage museum in New South Wales, Australia.
